A new dissemination action of LIFE-BIODELEAR took place in Cyprus on the 15th and 16th of October 2018 with the organization of a 2-day workshop in the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology.
On Monday, the 15th of October 2018, the informative workshop of the project was held at 18.00 at the Cyprus University of Technology (Amphitheater 1, Tassos Papadopoulos Building) in Limassol, under the title of "Control of the Mediterranean Fly by Mass Trapping and Using the Attractive Biodelear".

A new dissemination action of LIFE-BIODELEAR took place in Cyprus on 15th and 16th of October 2018 with the organization of 2-day workshop.
On Tuesday the 16th of October 2018 (the second day of the trip) the research team of the project visited the most important citrus farm in Cyprus, in the Akrotiri region, covering an area of 5000 acres of cultivations.
In particular, the visit was to Red Seal Quality Company, founded in 1993, the largest company in Cyprus in the cultivation, production, packaging and marketing of citrus fruit. The varieties cultivated by the company are: Grapefruits (Marsh Seedless, Star Ruby), Oranges (Valencia, Powell Navel, Lane Late, Navelina, Chislett), mandarins (Mandora, Nova, Clemenules, Orogrande). Its annual citrus production exceeds 13000 tons.

On Monday, 15th October, Life-Biodelear's research team paid a visit to the Cyprus University of Technology. During this visit, a regular meeting with institutional members of the Foundation took place. The research team had the honor to speak with Mr. Maganaris and Mr. Stavrinidis, who highlighted the problems facing citrus growers in Cyprus today. There was also a general debate on the problem of the Mediterranean fly in the world.

LIFE-BIODELEAR is organizing its 4rd Workshop on the 15th of October 2018 at 18:00 in Cyprus University of Technology (Amphitheater 1, Building Tassos Papadopoulos) in Limassol.
During the workshop all beneficiaries will present the project in the participants and will inform them regarding the implementation of the new attractant BIODELEAR in the citrus of CHIOS for the control of Med fly.

Among the main objectives of the LIFE-BIODELEAR project is the elimination of insecticide use and the investigation of the effects of conventional and alternative cultivated practices, related to the protection from medfly, on soil fertility and quality.

The work of the Life-Biodelear project was presented on August 3rd 2018 in the weekly Rural Development Gazette, Ypaithros xwra. Earlier, on July 25th 2018, Life-Biodelear had been presented in the newspaper's website, ypaithros.gr.
The project started on June 1st 2014 and was completed on October 25th 2019
