A new dissemination action of the results of the LIFE-BIODELEAR project, the research team traveled to Chios on 7th, 8th and 9th October 2019 and visited and organized a closing event for the LIFE-Biodelear project.

The final workshop for the closure of the LIFE-Biodelear program took place on Tuesday, October 8 at 5:00 pm, at the Chandris Hotel in Chios.  The event was organized with the aim of presenting the final results of the project after the completion of the project.  At the event the scientific team presented the final results with each player analyzing their own track!

In the framework of the final events of the LIFE-Biodelear project in Chios, the project's scientific team had the opportunity to visit and inform the Mayor of Chios, Mr. Stamatis Karmantzis, Mr. Karmantzis congratulated the research team on the results and positive conclusion of the LIFE-Biodelear project. The research team gave the Mayor with a folder containing all the informative material of the program as well as all its promotional material (hat, handbag, pen, etc.). furthermore, two insect collections created by the insects found in the experimental fields of the project were donated to the town hall.

In the framework of the dissemination of the results of the LIFE-BIODELEAR project, the research team travelled to Chios on October 7th-9th 2019 and and participated in visits and events for the closing the LIFE-Biodelear project.

The project's scientific team had the opportunity to visit and thank the Vice Prefect of Chios, Mr. Pantelis Bougdanos, for help with the implementation of the project.  Mr. Bogdanos in turn congratulated the research team on the results and positive conclusion of the LIFE-Biodelear project.

As part of the dissemination of the results of the LIFE-BIODELEAR project, research team traveled to Chios on October 7th-9th 2019 and held visits and an event to close the LIFE-Biodelear project.

On October 8th, 2019, Dr. Bempelou and the research team from the Benaki Phytopathological Institute visited our local consultant agronomist and project partner, Ms. Despoina Anagnostou.

The research team of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, led by Professor Nikolaos Koulousis, created guidelines for farmers using two informational forms:



• One leaflet describes the use of the McPhail and Jackson trap to monitor the Mediterranean fly. The aim was the properl utilization of the traps by the farmers in order to validate the presence of the Mediterranean fly and then take measures for the application of massive trapping with the attractive Biodelear.

The creation of the layman’s report took place after the completion of Life-Biodelear. The layman’s report presents all the necessary information regarding Life project, which foresees to the development of an integrated pest management strategy (IPMS) for the sustainable management for the control of Med fly (Ceratitis capitata) in the absence of insecticides, using the mass trapping technique with a novel attractant nontoxic to people and environment, and its application in the intensively cultivated Mediterranean areas. Its goal is to provide stakeholders, organizations or farmers and citizens, though a brief and easy-to- read text, with the available information about the project.

Life-Biodelear for the second consecutive year was screened at the “65th Florist Exhibition in Kifissia”, which took place from April 30 to May 19, 2019 in Kifissia Athens.

Life-Biodelear posters were posted and presented at the Benaki Phytopathological Institutes, which participated as an exhibitor in the exhibition. Also, distributes brochures for his work to visitors to the exhibition.

 Information on Organic Fighting of the Mediterranean Fly (Ceratitis capitata).
